Did this have to end this way ?
This is the story of an Atlanta senior citizen protecting her home at 92 years old while living in the roughest neighborhood in Georgia.
This is as Quoted by (AP) News !
"Johnston, 92, was no exception"!
"She was waiting with her gun on Tuesday night when a group of plain clothes officers with a warrant knocked down her door in a search for drugs, police said. She opened fire, wounding three officers before being shot to death, police said".
"Assistant Police Chief Alan Dreher called the killing "tragic and unfortunate", but said the officers were justified in returning fire".
"You don't know who's in the house until you open that door," Dreher said Wednesday. "And once they forced open the door, they were immediately fired upon."
I'm wondering if this incident couldn't have been handled differently, and a life saved. After shots being fired at police, they had a right to return fire. Was there another way to handle this ? Did they know that a 92 year old woman lived in the house before they entered the door? What would you do in this case given the facts stated above ?
